How it works

Two doors

You have a quote

Send it on the quote form. Paste the text, or say it is a PDF or a photo; we ask for the file when we write back, and you attach it to your reply. A person reads it against a standard scope for that trade and writes a benchmark note: every line marked included, stated, vague or missing; the arithmetic checked; questions to send back; and a plain scope you can hand to a second contractor so the next quote prices the same job.

You need something done

Describe it on the job form. The form takes text only; if photos would help, we ask for them in our email reply. A person writes a scoping document: the job in one paragraph, what the photos show, what could not be told from them, what to measure, and what a quote should price line by line. You send it to contractors you choose.

Who reads it

We run finalist.cc. A person reads every request and writes every note. No software sends anything to you on its own.

What a benchmark is here

We compare your quote with a standard scope for the trade: what a quote for that kind of work should name, measure and price. We do not compare your price with other prices. We have no price database yet, so the note does not call a price high or low.

Timing

We do not promise a reply time. If we cannot do a note for your job, we tell you.

What it costs

Prices are not posted on this site. Ask in your request.

Questions

My quote is a PDF. Can I upload it?

Not on this form. Choose “It is a PDF or a photo”. We ask for it in our email reply, and you attach it to your reply.

Will the contractor know I sent it?

Not from us. We do not contact the contractor.

Can I use the scope with any contractor?

Yes. It is yours. Send it to whoever you want quotes from.
